Health Minister of Tatarstan Republic Marat Sadykov summed up the work of the Republic's health system in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Marat Sadykov noted, Tatarstan was the first in the country to gain experience working with patients with coronavirus infection.
To coordinate the work, Tatarstan Republic was divided into 5 districts, 45 medical organizations were redesigned, and 4,728 infectious diseases beds were deployed.
15,842 medical workers were involved in providing medical care to patients with COVID-19, 8,617 of them provide hospital services, and 341 ambulance drivers respond to calls every day.
Tatarstan Republic President Rustam Minnikhanov made an unprecedented decision to build a new capital building of an infectious diseases hospital with a total area of more than 1,700 square meters, with a capacity of 232 beds. It is planned that the building will be completed by mid-August.
The Minister also noted that several thousand medical workers of the Republic received incentive payments: 9,478 medical workers received 392.01 million rubles in February –June, and 6,946 medical workers and ambulance drivers received 914.35 million rubles in April –June.
On August 3, 2020, a total of 5694 cases of COVID-19 were detected in Tatarstan. Of these, 4,565 people have already recovered. 43 people died (this is one of the lowest death rates in the country). Currently, 517 people are being treated in hospitals.
According to Marat Sadykov, the main task of the healthcare system of Tatarstan now is to restore the planned, regular operation of medical institutions in the conditions of COVID-19.
